My landscape and canyon vases are hand built from porcelain and stoneware clays. I build up layers of clay to reflect natural patterns, and when dry, add clay slips with minerals (iron, copper, rutile). The glazes I use --wood ash and shino-- pool and flow in the high firing to follow and accent the natural contours of the clay.
